by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs prospect Eloy Jimenez took part in the All-Star Futures game and was impressive going 2-for-3 with a run-scoring double and a three-run mammoth shot in the ninth inning that went to the third deck of Petco Park.

Jimenez is batting .332 with 10 homers and 40 extra-base hits in his first season in professional ball in the Midwest League at only 19 years.

He is the regarded as the 28th best prospect, #10th best Cubs prospect by Baseball America and is signed to a $2.8 million bonus in 2013.

"Very fun day," Jimenez told reporters after the game. "Very, very fun."

Here is his catch in foul territory in the seventh inning that will make believers out of his potential. He traveled 127.8 feet to make the play according to Statcast data. If his defense catches up with his legit bat then the Cubs could have another talented young outfielder in the majors soon.
