Cubs News: David Ross gives latest injury updates

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs manager David Ross provided some injury updates talking to the media on Wednesday.

Nico Hoerner, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, is making positive strides in his recovery.

According to Ross, Hoerner is on track to be activated from the injured list on Friday.

This news will undoubtedly come as a relief to Cubs fans, as Hoerner's presence in the lineup provides a significant boost both offensively and defensively.

Another noteworthy update concerns Cody Bellinger, who has been dealing with a knee injury.

Ross shared that Bellinger took part in batting practice, hitting in the cage, and could potentially be available off the bench tonight.

However, the Cubs are taking a cautious approach by not rushing Bellinger back into the lineup.

With an off-day scheduled for Thursday, the team can give Bellinger some extra rest and evaluate his condition further before making any decisions.

Bellinger is hitting .271 with seven homers, nine doubles, 20 RBIs, 29 runs, and a .830 OPS this season.

In other injury news, pitcher Brad Boxberger is set to return to Chicago for additional testing on his right forearm strain.

He was placed on the 15-day IL on May 15 and has a 5.52 ERA with 13 strikeouts and nine walks in 14 2/3 innings this season.
