Cubs News: Fergie Jenkins' wife passes away

Sad news to report as Fergie Jenkins' wife Lydia passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday.

Jenkins posted about the passing on his Twitter account.

"It is with a heavy heart that I share my bride Lydia of 24 years unexpectedly passed away yesterday," he posted. Thank you to all my family, friends, fans, former teammates, the Chicago Cubs, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Major League Baseball for your thoughts and prayers."

The official Twitter account of the Chicago Cubs posted the following message:

"Fergie, we are very sorry to hear this news. Lydia was a wonderful woman and the Cubs organization sends its deepest condolences to you and your family," Cubs posted.
