Cubs News: Maddon updates Kris Bryant's injury status

Standout Kris Bryant left Sunday's game against the Reds in the sixth inning after a collision with Jason Heyward on a flyball in right field.

The trainer and Cubs manager Joe Maddon saw Bryant and he eventually walked off the field very gingerly.

Maddon was interviewed on 670 The Score Tuesday afternoon and updated Bryant's status saying he is better but doesn't expect Bryant to play tonight.

"We'll just wait and see," he said. "I don't have anything dramatically new to report except that he's feeling better."

Bryant is currently still under evaluation by the medical staff for a head-neck injury.

In his last seven games, Bryant has a .400 average with a homer and three RBI. For the season, he is batting .288 with 12 homers, 34 RBI, and a .411 on-base percentage.

However, there is some good injury news for the ballclub as Maddon said that Heyward is back from his sore hip and will start tonight's game against the Astros.
