Cubs release heartfelt thank you video to Kyle Schwarber |
It's the end of an era in Chicago.
The Chicago Cubs will be playing the 2021 season without Kyle Schwarber after he signed with the Washington Nationals on Saturday. The Cubs decided to let Schwarber go (non-tendered) after six seasons instead of paying him a projected $7-9 million for the 2021 season. The Cubs released a short video saying thank you to him. "Thank you to Kyle Schwarber for your kindness, generosity, and resilience. You gave us moments Cubs fans will never forget." Thank you for the opportunity, all the memories and will always have you guys in my heart! Thank you Chicago! https://t.co/OU3uYWPkV6 Schwarber responded on Twitter, "Thank you for the opportunity, all the memories and will always have you guys in my heart! Thank you, Chicago!" His former teammate Willson Contreras added the following. "We were teammates since 2014, saw him get drafted and develop himself to good ballplayer but a better person and great teammate. Good luck, @kschwarb12." Best of luck, Schwarber in Washington, as we all know you will do great with your new team.
