David Ross back soon with new role with Cubs?

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

Cubs fan favorite David Ross might be coming back to the team in some capacity for 2017. He made such an impact in his two years with the Cubs that the majority of Cubs Nation including his former teammates would love for him to come back to the ballclub.

Ross will still be retired as a player but might take a role "possibly as a special assistant to the General Manager" according to Cubs insider Carrie Muskat. Potentially, Ross could work in the front office like Ryan Dempster and others.

It sounds like Ross could be back with the Cubs in 2017 and that would be great news with all the young players still on the Cubs roster.

Ross batted .229 with ten homers and 32 RBIs in his final season in the majors.
