ESPN discusses potential trade of Chris Sale to Cubs |
Cubs President Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer made a significant move in acquiring Aroldis Chapman from the New York Yankees to acquire the much-needed relief help before the trade deadline on August 1.
However, the Cubs might not be done as the White Sox might move ace pitcher Chris Sales as the team has been frustrated with the suspended pitcher. ESPN senior writer Jim Bowden believes that a deal could be done with the White Sox for the 27-year old ace if the Cubs include Kyle Schwarber and a few prospects. "Sale for Schwarber, Hendricks, Happ and Candelario," ESPN said. "A strong haul for the White Sox, but could you imagine a Cubs rotation including Sale, Jake Arrieta and Jon Lester, with Hector Rondon and Chapman in the back end of the bullpen? Remember, the Cubs would control Sale at affordable rates for three more years after this one." Sale is an impressive 14-3 with a 3.18 ERA with 129 strikeouts and a 1.01 WHIP in 2016. hero pic.twitter.com/GxaTarvjCO
