The Chicago Cubs plan to activate super-utility player Javier Baez from the disabled list on Friday according to multiple reports.

Joe Maddon said after Thursday night's game that there will be a decision "very soon" on Baez's availability.

Cubs infielder Munenori Kawasaki is expected to be the player that will be optioned to Triple-A to make room for Baez's roster spot.

Baez hit .267 (4-15) with a home run and a stolen base in four games with Iowa and the Cubs plan to use his versatility in spots at second base, third base, shortstop and left field.

For his short MLB career (80 games), he has batted .201 with 10 home runs, 12 doubles, 24 RBIs and 119 strikeouts.

He was the ninth overall pick in the 2011 MLB Draft.
