Cubs Media Relations  ·

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Chicago Cubs today reinstated right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon from the 15-day injured list. In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Ethan Roberts was optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Taillon, 33, is 9-6 with a 4.15 ERA (49 ER/106.1 IP) in 19 starts with the Cubs this season. He was placed on the injured list on August 27 (retro to August 25) with a left groin strain, his second injured list stint this season (also July 4-August 19 – right calf strain). The righthander made one rehab start with Triple-A Iowa, allowing three runs in 3.2 IP on September 4 vs. Omaha. Taillon this season ranks fourth among N.L. pitchers (min. 100 IP) in walk rate (4.9%) and eighth in opponent OBP (.269).

Roberts, 28, is 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA (6 ER/9.0 IP) in 10 games in relief for Chicago this season.

Taillon is scheduled to start Chicago’s 6:15 p.m. CT game tonight vs. Atlanta at Truist Park. The game can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score and, in Spanish, on WRTO 1200 AM.
