WATCH: Matt Mervis gets out of slump with two-run double against Angels

by - Senior Editor -

A possible slump-buster for Chicago Cubs first baseman Matt Mervis.

Mervis hit a two-run double to clear the bases to put the Cubs up 4-0 in the second inning against the Angels on Tuesday night.

The double was hit with an exit velocity of 110 MPH and snapped a 0-17 drought for the youngster.

"When I'm in stretches like this, I try to force results to happen instead of just trusting that the balls I'm hitting hard are eventually going to drop," Mervis told reporters recently.
