Cubs News: Addison Russell injury update

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs shortstop Addison Russell is out of the lineup for tonight's matchup with the rival Cardinals because of a bruised right hand. Second-year player David Bote gets the start at second base filling in for Russell.

Russell hurt his thumb area on a slide during Tuesday's game. He is currently day-to-day and might be able to return to the lineup tomorrow according to reports. The injury has caused the 25-year old to be out of the lineup since Wednesday.

For the season through 24 games, Russell is batting .254 with four homers and 8 RBIs.
