Selected by the Rangers in the eighth round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Dartmouth College... acquired by the Chicago Cubs with infielder Christian Villanueva from the Texas Rangers for pitcher Ryan Dempster on July 31, 2012... Was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 39th round of the 2008 Draft but did not sign... selected in the 8th round out of Dartmouth University, where he went 5-3, 2.47 ERA (17 ER/62.0 IP) with 70 strikeouts and 4 complete games in 9 games/starts as a junior this season... the 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-hander tied for the Ivy league lead in victories, ranked second in strikeouts and posted the third-lowest ERA in 2011 season to earn first team All-Ivy honors... his 15 strikeouts on March 18 vs. Army was the most by a Big Green pitcher in 39 seasons... garnered All-Ivy Honorable Mention during his sophomore campaign in 2010, finishing 2nd in the conference with 54 strikeouts... was selected in the 39th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim out of Capistrano Valley (Calif.) High School.
