This is interesting news to report.

Cubs shortstop Addison Russell has reportedly agreed to a one-year guaranteed deal worth $3.4 million with a 600K worth of bonuses if he is with the Cubs for 150 days next season. He will be suspended without pay for the first month (28 games) of 2019 for violating the joint domestic violence policy last season.

His MLBTR salary projection was $4.3 million.

Russell made $3,010,753 last season.

The move was made to avoid arbitration for both sides and today at 12 p.m. CT was the deadline for new salaries for arbitration-eligible players including Cubs players Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, C.J. Edwards, Kyle Schwarber, Kyle Hendricks, and Mike Montgomery.

Russell hit .250 with five homers, 38 RBIs, a .657 OPS, and an on-base percentage of .317 in 130 games.

For his young career, the 24-year old has batted .242 with 51 homers and 230 RBIs.
