WATCH: Baez jacks opposite-field solo blast

by - Senior Writer -

Javier Baez provided the Chicago Cubs with an insurance run in their contest against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. Smacking an opposite-field solo blast in the bottom of the seventh, Baez put the Cubs up 7-2 on the visiting Dodgers.

Los Angeles reliever Caleb Ferguson lofted a 4-seam fastball right over the plate, and Baez took advantage by skying a 377-footer with a launch angle of 24 degrees out of Wrigley Field for his seventh home run of the season. The dinger ricocheted off the video board in right field and landed in the basket at the top of the ivy-covered wall.
