WATCH: Gonzalez hugs it out with his former teammates

by - Senior Writer -

Making just his second start with the Chicago Cubs, right fielder Carlos Gonzalez had the surreal experience on Tuesday night of going up against his longtime former team, as the Colorado Rockies came to town to battle the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Gonzalez is one of the greatest players in Rockies history, having made multiple All-Star teams and won several awards while competing for the Rockies from 2009 to 2018.

Prior to the start of Tuesday's game, Gonzalez met up with his old Rockies pals during batting practice. Hugging it out with a bevy of his erstwhile teammates, "CarGo" seemed to miss his former compatriots, while they seemed to feel the same way about him. Gonzalez received an especially long embrace from Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado, and the two chatted away when Gonzalez was standing at third base at one point during the game. Gonzalez went 1-for-3 on the night and drove in two runs, as he bested his old crew in the 6-3 Cubs win.
