WATCH: Schwarber hustles for triple after Andrew McCutchen botches catch |
Familiar Chicago Cubs foe Andrew McCutchen, a longtime Pittsburgh Pirate who is in his first season with the Philadelphia Phillies, helped Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber pick up a triple with the Cubs battling the Phillies at Wrigley Field on Monday. Schwarber swatted an arcing liner to deep left field that McCutchen pursued but was unable to catch.
"Cutch" attempted to haul in a backhanded grab in front of the ivy-covered wall, but he seemed to misjudge the location of the ball, as it ricocheted off his glove. As a result, Schwarber notched his first triple of the season, as McCutchen's botched catch was not egregious enough to warrant an error, and Schwarber was plated soon afterward to provide the Cubs with a 1-0 lead over the Phillies in the bottom of the third.
