Cubs ranked #1 in ESPN's Power Rankings

by - Senior Editor -

ESPN has released his latest MLB Power Rankings on Monday morning and the Cubs are still on top at the #1 spot with a 24-6 record and currently sitting in first-place in the NL Central with an impressive 7.5 game lead over Pittsburgh.

"The Cubs passed a huge test this past week, sweeping both the Pirates and the Nationals. Chicago has won 11 of its past 12 games," ESPN said.

The Chicago Cubs start a three-game home series (5/9-5/11) vs. the San Diego Padres on Monday. However, adverse weather conditions may force today's game to be delayed or even postponed.

The top 10 teams in ESPN's MLB rankings were the Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals, Chicago White Sox, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants.

The Cubs rival St. Louis Cardinals were ranked #11 in the rankings which makes three teams in the National League Central in the Top 11.
