MLB will wear #42 on Friday to honor Jackie Robinson |
Major League Baseball will have all of its teams including the Chicago Cubs wear #42 on Friday to honor Hall-of-Famer Jackie Robinson. The day will also have special ceremonies and will feature jeweled bases and special lineup cards.
Robinson made his MLB debut as the 1st African-American MLB player on this date back in 1947 and the #42 number was retired by all of Major League baseball in 1997. "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives," Robinson famously said. Today we all wear No. 42 to honor the barriers broken by Hall of Famer, Jackie Robinson. https://t.co/XLGtMIbHd4 pic.twitter.com/ZzsYkRJCwb
