6-year-old Cubs fan gets hit with bat during her first game

by - Senior Editor -

Six-year-old Ella Hunnicut was recently at her first ever Cubs game at Wrigley Field to watch the Northsiders play the San Diego Padres on June 21. Wrigley Field holds special memories where her parents had their first date.

However, the magical time turned quickly to a house of horrors when shortstop Addison Russell lost the grip of his bat, and it flew into the stands and hit Ella on the back of the head. Chicago officials rushed to give her first aid, and she was put into an ambulance to get checked out at a local hospital. Luckily, after a CT scan, it was revealed that she only had a concussion from the traumatic event.

The bat accident didn't stop Ella from keeping a positive attitude.

"When I grow up I'll be on the Cubs, and we will never lose," Ella said.

Great attitude Ella and hopefully you can visit Wrigley Field soon with your family.
