MILWAUKEE — A heartwarming story had light shed on it by Saturday night's contest between the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers. At Miller Park, a Brewers fan who received a heart transplant from a Cubs fan threw out the first pitch.
Tom Schroeder, a Brewers supporter who received a heart transplant in 2018, had the opportunity to meet the family of the Cubs fan whom he received the heart from, as the family traveled north to attend the game. Schroeder received a photograph of Joshua Holland, his heart donor, when meeting Holland's family for the first time. We’re at Miller Park for a very special day! Tom underwent a heart transplant at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center last August. Today, the @Brewers invited Tom to meet the family of his donor and throw out the first pitch! pic.twitter.com/EFXbYG7cfg Brewers fan with Cubs fan's heart to throw out first pitch at Miller Park https://t.co/lVT5E5qr9v pic.twitter.com/kjutUmqbSU Brewers fan who had heart transplant will unite with donor family of Cubs fan to throw out first pitch.
