Cubs reliever Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect 9th inning on Sunday night and then Wrigley Field played the 1997 hit song "Smack my Bitch up" as he walked off the field.
It was “unfortunate and should not have happened,” according to the team via ESPN's Jesse Rogers. The Cubs said that the playing of the song was unintentional and the team's D.J. will be disciplined. The music selection was troubling with Chapman's recent suspension in October for a domestic violence incident where he choked his girlfriend and fired eight gunshots according to reports. Chapman has a 1.80 ERA with 24 saves, 57 strikeouts, and a 0.75 WHIP. For his career, he has a 2.14 ERA with 170 saves, 603 strikeouts, and a 0.99 WHIP.
