Cubs-Cardinals series reportedly postponed

The first-place Chicago Cubs were ready to battle their rival St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.

However, MLB canceled tonight's contest due to a new positive case among the Cardinals players. In total, the Redbirds have 14 positive cases with 8 of them being players.

It was hopeful that they would be able to get in a doubleheader on Sunday but MLB Network insider Joel Sherman and others are reporting that the series is canceled.

"MLB has not made it official but I hear the #Cubs #StlCards series this weekend has been postponed," Sherman posted on social media.

The Cubs will now fly home tonight (off-day on Monday scheduled) and prepare to play Tuesday in Cleveland.
