Cubs Corner with Anthony Pasquale: Sign-stealing scandal and how impacts Cubs

by - Staff Writer -

On the latest edition of the Cubs Corner presented by Coach’s Bar and Grill, Anthony breaks down the sign-stealing scandal and how it impacts the Cubs.

First, Anthony analyzed the punishments delivered to the Astros: a one-year suspension to manager AJ Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow, a five million dollar fine, and taking away first and second-round draft picks in the 2020 and 2021 MLB drafts.

Anthony then analyzed the domino effect that happened after that. Hinch and Luhnow were fired by the Astros, as well as Alex Cora of the Red Sox (Astros in 2017) and Carlos Beltran of the Mets (Astros in 2017).

Following that, he gave his thoughts about whether the punishments were harsh enough.

There were also Cubs ties to the situation, even though Anthony Rizzo assured that the Cubs were not involved. They were not, but some current players on the team like Yu Darvish were involved and victimized by it.

Finally, Anthony touches on how the Cubs have hardly made any moves this offseason — but with Josh Donaldson being signed to the Twins and Kris Bryant’s grievance to be decided soon, the market may begin to move.
