Cubs in trade discussions for former Gold Glove winner

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs President Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer made a bold move in acquiring Aroldis Chapman from the New York Yankees to acquire the much-needed relief help for the Cubs before Monday's non-waiver Trade Deadline.

However, the Cubs are still working the phones as serious discussions have been ongoing with the Oakland A's for right fielder Josh Reddick according to multiple reports.

For the season, the left-handed hitter Reddick is batting .300 with seven homers, 27 RBIs, and a .375 on-base percentage. He is a career .255 hitter with 93 home runs, 336 RBIs, and an on-base percentage of .317 and won the Gold Glove Award back in 2012.

Reddick is batting just .237 with one homer in his last 22 games (hit it on Tuesday) since returning from a hand injury on June 28. Theo Epstein originally drafted Reddick but he was traded to Oakland after Epstein left the Red Sox.

The 29-year old outfielder will be a free agent after the 2016 season.

Outfielders Jay Bruce and Carlos Gonzalez are two other outfielders that are reportedly on the trade blocks for their respective teams.
