Cubs in World Series could make $30 million for Fox

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

The Cubs have not won the World Series since 1908 and Fox executives are drooling over the possibility of a Cubs-Indians World Series.

Fox Sports One has been breaking viewership records largely due to each Cubs game and World Series 30-sec advertisements could each go for over $500,000 if the Cubs make the Fall Classica. So if the World Series went to seven games, the tv station could hypothetically be in for a cool $30 million in extra revenue.

"It has all the makings of a great Hollywood script," Foxs President Eric Shanks said via hollywoodreporter.com. "This has the potential to be one of the biggest World Series in the last decade."
