Cubs News: Dansby Swanson after Opening Day win: "Amazing city, amazing team, amazing organization"

by - Senior Editor -

In a highly anticipated season opener at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs delivered an impressive 4-0 win over their division rivals, the Milwaukee Brewers.

While the entire team performed well, one player in particular stood out in his Cubs debut: Dansby Swanson.

Swanson showed no signs of nerves as he stepped up to the plate and collected three hits, including a crucial RBI single in his first game as a Cubs player at Wrigley Field.

"It's better when you're on this team, and you hear it versus being on the other team," Swanson said of the Cubs' Go-Cubs-Go victory song.

Swanson is excited for how the team played in game one of the season.

"It's obviously a special start," Swanson said. "We're just so blessed. I have to keep saying this. We're just so blessed to be here, so blessed to wear this uniform. I couldn't be more proud of our guys. I felt like we played really well today."

The Opening Day win was a special moment that he will always cherish.

"I try not to get into rankings, but it's pretty close. It's pretty dear to my heart," Swanson said. "Amazing city, amazing team, amazing organization. Every Opening Day is special, but this one is definitely up there."

All in all, it was a great start to the season for the Cubs, and Swanson's impressive debut only adds to the excitement surrounding this team. If he can continue to perform like this, the Cubs could be in for a very special season indeed.
