Cubs News: Ian Happ on Anthony Rizzo: "looks absolutely wonderful" after weight loss

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo didn't waste any time during this coronavirus pandemic.

While he was home with his new wife and puppy Kevin, Rizzo got after it with his fitness and lost over 25 pounds with the help of his neighbor and quality assurance coach Mike Napoli as they worked out six days a week.

The media, fans, and his teammates including Ian Happ have taken notice of the new slim down version of Rizzo.

“Nice to see him downsizing, and he looks absolutely wonderful,” Happ said on Friday to reporters. “His pop right now -- I don’t want to oversell it, but his pop right now -- he’s strong. He’s very strong.”

Great to see Rizzo not waste his time during the early part of 2020 and looks to have a strong campaign once the season gets started up.

"I feel really good for this year and for this sprint," Rizzo said.
