Cubs News: Kris Bryant on Harper's record-breaking contract

by - Senior Editor -

The wait is finally over for MLB fans.

Bryce Harper signed a massive 13 year, $330 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday.

His childhood friend Kris Bryant was asked by reporters about the huge megadeal that his friend received.

"I think we all saw it coming," Bryant said about the deal with the Phillies. "I'm super pumped for him. He's got some cool guys over there. Our old hitting coach. I know he'll love him. I'll let him know all about Males (John Mallee)."

Bryant said that he hopes that the Cubs and their fans are excited about the team that the Cubs have in 2019.

"I think it's important to be happy for what we've got here rather than what we didn't get. I'm happy for Bryce. I would have loved to have played with him. But it just didn’t work out and now we'll just have to beat him."

Bryant thought that the contract was a long one for Harper and the Phillies.

"Thirteen years is a very long time. I don’t think that’s something I would want. That’s a very long time. He’s going to be 39. That's crazy."
