Cubs News: Kyle Hendricks injury update

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton  ·  Senior Editor ·

Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks will remain on the disabled list with his right-hand tendinitis.

Hendricks tried to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday and felt discomfort with the injury. He is 4-3 with a 4.09 ERA (28 ER/61.2 IP) in 11 starts with the Cubs this season.

Joe Maddon told reporters on Tuesday that they want to wait for him to come off the disabled list until he is pain-free and they don't have an estimate for his return. He will not make it back for the upcoming series with the Pittsburgh Pirates as the starters for this weekend will be Eddie Butler, Jake Arrieta, and John Lackey.
