The Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds were scheduled to face off on Wednesday, but Mother Nature had other plans.

The game was postponed due to heavy rain after a 1:43 delay, leaving both teams with an unexpected day off.

However, the game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on September 1st in Cincinnati. The rescheduled game will be played as part of a split doubleheader.

Game 1 will begin at 1:10 PM ET and will be the rescheduled game from Wednesday.

Game 2 will be played at 6:40 PM ET and will be the originally scheduled game. Both games will be nine-inning regulation games.

This was MLB's first postponed game of 2023.

The Cubs will return home Friday to take on the Texas Rangers at Wrigley Field.

Cubs officials have said that the rotation for the three-game home series will be Marcus Stroman followed by Justin Steele and then Jameson Taillon.
