After struggling for a few days, Chicago Cubs standouts Ian Happ and Dansby Swanson showed signs of life as they had two hits and combined for two RBIs in the Cubs 5-2 win over the San Diego Padres on Thursday.

The Cubs had nine hits, including three homers in the game as their league-best team batting average continued to rise.

Chicago will now head out East for a seven-game trip which starts with three against the Miami Marlins on Friday.

UP NEXT

The Cubs will head to Miami to face the Marlins on Friday, where RHP Marcus Stroman (2-2, 2.17) will battle LHP Jesus Luzardo (2-1 3.62).
