Red Sox acquire pitcher Zach Bryant from Cubs |
BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Zach Bryant from the Chicago Cubs, completing the August 31 trade for left-handed pitcher Josh Osich.
Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement. Bryant, 22, made his professional debut in 2019 and recorded two saves with a 1.27 ERA (3 ER/21.1 IP) in 12 relief appearances between the Rookie-level Arizona League Cubs and Short-A Eugene, striking out 24 batters and walking eight without surrendering a home run. A native of Port Orange, FL, the right-hander was selected by the Cubs in the 15th round of the 2019 June Draft after attending Daytona State College (2017-18) and Jacksonville University (2019). Thankful for what the Cubs have done for me these last couple years. But growing up a die hard Sox fan this is a VERY exciting twist to my journey. Excited for what’s to come with @RedSox https://t.co/HWWeVwID9O
