Roster Move: Cubs reliever Edwin Uceta clears waivers, outrighted to Triple-A Iowa

by - Senior Editor -

Good news for the Cubs.

Chicago Cubs reliever Edwin Uceta has cleared waived and has been outrighted to Triple-A Iowa on Friday.

Uceta was recently claimed by the Cubs from the Mets, and now he is off the 40-man roster but still able to add organizational depth.

Uceta has only pitched 8 2/3 innings in the minors this season.

Overall in the minors, he has 84 1/3 triple-A innings with a 29% strikeout rate.

The 40-man roster might need some room soon (3 empty spots currently) as standouts Jordan Wicks and Pete-Crow Armstrong might be September call-ups for a late-season playoff push for the big league ballclub.
