Thursday's Cubs-Pirates game in rain delay

The Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates game is officially in a rain delay on Thursday night.

A heavy rain fell hard right before the game started and caught the grounds crew off guard as they hurried to put a tarp on the field. Sadly, as soon as they got the tarp on the field, the rain slacked off completely.

At one point home plate was underwater but now it is drying out.

Update #1: The tarp is coming off the field but expect as least twenty to thirty minutes for the crew to fix the field for it to be dry and playable.

Update #2 : The game will resume at around 6:55 p.m. CT
