WATCH: Baez makes incredible spinning throw look easy

by - Senior Writer -

Oftentimes, the magic act that Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez brings to the diamond game in and game out is taken for granted. Simply put, he frequently makes the game of baseball look too easy, which is part of why the "El Mago" nickname is so appropriate. For example, in the top of the second of the Cubs' Sunday afternoon contest with the Cincinnati Reds, Baez effortlessly pulled off an incredible defensive play to get Reds second baseman Jose Peraza out.

Peraza smacked a hard-hit grounder that Baez darted to his left in order to field before performing a smooth spin move and firing a laser to first baseman Anthony Rizzo for the out. Embracing his inner Mikhail Baryshnikov, Baez essentially did a pirouette in cleats and did not skip a beat, which is something that is best summed up as "Javy being Javy."
