Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras finished off a 12-pitch at-bat against Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw with a solo homer to right field in the second inning to put the Cubs up 1-0. It was Contreras' fifth homer of the season and the last time he homered off of Kershaw was the 2016 NLCS game six win.
The last Cubs player to hit a homer after that many pitches (12) was Mike Fontenot off Dan Haren at Arizona in 2009. Check out the homer below. Willson Contreras crushes a solo home run to right field in the top of the 2nd inning, giving the Cubs a 1-0 lead!!! #ThatsCub pic.twitter.com/wmVUhBQO8K
