PITTSBURGH — Chicago Cubs third baseman David Bote showed off his broad-based defensive abilities against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. Making a fantastic play on a tricky dribbler in the bottom of the seventh at PNC Park, Bote prevented the Pirates' Elias Diaz from reaching base.

After furiously charging a slow roller off the bat of Diaz, Bote barehanded the ball and gunned an impressive sidearmed throw to Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo for the out. Bote tumbled to the ground as a result of the all-out effort, and Rizzo capped off the web gem by stretching out in order to secure the catch.
