WATCH: Heyward guns down runner at home plate |
Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward threw out Adrian Gonzalez trying to score at home plate in the second inning as he was called out with a tag by Willson Contreras.
The replays showed that the replay officials may have missed the call and that Gonzalez was actually safe on the play. Ruling from MLB: After viewing all relevant angles, the Replay Official could not definitively determine that the runner's hand contacted home plate prior to the fielder applying the tag. The call STANDS, the runner is out. Biggest blown call I've witnessed like ever @Cubs @Dodgers @CaseyStern what are your thoughts #whowillbethetribesnext pic.twitter.com/57vZ1uKGkU
