WATCH: Highlights from Cubs' five-homer shellacking of White Sox

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — With quite possibly the most emphatic bat flip in the history of major league bat flips, Willson Contreras of the Chicago Cubs (33-25) tossed his lumber sky-high upon walloping a towering three-run blast against the rival Chicago White Sox (34-24) on Friday. Contreras went yard twice on the night, and the Cubs homered five times in all, with Victor Caratini swatting a two-run shot and Javier Baez and Kyle Schwarber each hitting solo bombs.

By shutting out the South Siders 10-0 at Guaranteed Rate Field, the North Siders evened the 2020 Crosstown Classic at two games apiece with two meetings remaining. Friday's affair contained late-inning drama, as Contreras was beaned in the back by a pitch, leading to three White Sox ejections. On the mound for the Cubs, Yu Darvish put a bow on his marvelous regular season campaign by tossing seven scoreless innings.
