CHICAGO — With his first extra-base hit of the season, Chicago Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward smoked a slider into the bleachers at Wrigley Field on Tuesday. The two-run jack put the Cubs up 2-1 in the bottom of the second.

Pitching on his 24th birthday, Kansas City Royals starter Brady Singer gifted Heyward a nice present with a pitch that broke over the plate. The 412-foot blast left the bat in a hurry and scored catcher Willson Contreras, who singled in the previous at-bat.
