CINCINNATI — Wasting little time in giving the Chicago Cubs an early 1-0 lead in the opener of a three-game series, Kris Bryant, who started in right field on the evening, lifted a solo blast out to left field in the second plate appearance of Friday's game. Bryant's seventh long ball of the year put the Cubs up 1-0 over the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.

The 374-footer came on an 87.2-mph cutter thrown by Reds starter Wade Miley. Leaving the bat at 100.8 mph, the high, arcing dinger sported a steep launch angle of 32 degrees. By way of the long ball, Bryant increased his season RBI total to 18.
