NEW YORK — Keeping with the early-game trend of the Chicago Cubs having a field day at the plate against New York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard, Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber smashed a 2-run homer in the top of the second on Wednesday. The dinger at Citi Field put the Cubs up 8-1.
Following a bloop double by Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant that resulted from miscommunication by a pair of Mets defenders, Schwarber hit a 387-footer out to left field. The towering shot, which left the bat at 36 degrees, provided Schwarber with his career-best 31st home run of the season. I am inevitable.#EverybodyIn pic.twitter.com/Rci9MwfNFB
