MILWAUKEE — Annihilating the first pitch thrown to him in his second-inning at-bat, Chicago Cubs left fielder
Kyle Schwarber clobbered a monstrous 473-foot grand slam to give the Cubs an early lead. The dinger to right put the Cubs up 4-0 over the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.
Marking the second grand slam of Schwarber's career, the no-doubter came after Schwarber made perfect contact on a two-seamer thrown by Brewers starter Zach Davies. The bases-clearing blast left the bat at 114 miles per hour and had a launch angle of 23 degrees. That's a dangerous No. 8 hitter. #EverybodyIn pic.twitter.com/TraeaIJn2f That grand slam was the longest homer of this season by a Cubs batter. Measured at 473 feet per @statcast. Longest shot this year at Miller Park and tied for 12th-longer HR in MLB in 2019. Grand slams this season for the Cubs:
Taylor Davis
Kris Bryant
Albert Almora Jr.
Willson Contreras
Javy Baez
Anthony Rizzo
Kyle Schwarber
The seven slams are the most in the NL. Astros lead MLB with 10. It's the most in one season for the Cubs since also having seven in 2008.
