WATCH: Nicholas Castellanos reacts to being traded to Cubs

by - Senior Writer -

ANAHEIM, Calif. — During the course of the Detroit Tigers' contest at Angel Stadium against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday afternoon, Tigers right fielder Nicholas Castellanos was traded to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for minor-league pitchers Alex Lange and Paul Richan. Castellanos did not play in the contest, but he was interviewed in the locker room after receiving the trade news.

FOX Sports Detroit reporter Trevor Thompson talked with Castellanos, who said that he was conflicted about the trade. The 27-year-old outfielder is currently in his seventh big-league season, and the entirety of his career up until Wednesday's trade had been spent with the Tigers. Therefore, although Castellanos was excited about joining a contender in the Cubs, he was sad to be leaving the Tigers behind.
