WATCH: Rizzo clobbers 427-foot 2-run bomb in opening inning |
Giving the Chicago Cubs an early 2-0 lead in the opener of their series with the Houston Astros, first baseman Anthony Rizzo came through with a monstrous 2-run blast in the top of the first on Monday. Going yard off a slider thrown by Astros ace Gerrit Cole, Rizzo hammered a 427-foot no-doubter out to right at Minute Maid Park.
Rizzo plated left fielder Kyle Schwarber, who led off the game with a walk, on the dinger, which skied off the bat at 24 degrees and left the yard at 106 miles per hour. Rizzo increased his team leads in home runs and RBI to 15 and 42, respectively, which marks the first time in his career that "Big Rizz" has reached the 15-homer mark prior to June. .@ARizzo44 homers in the 1st. #TeamRizzo pic.twitter.com/Yo1K9LYYY8
