WATCH: Rizzo shows amazing effort, dives toward first base to record out

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo has won a pair of Gold Glove Awards for good reason, and his defensive adequacy was on full display with the Cubs taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. In the top of the second, Dodgers right fielder Cody Bellinger hit a chopper down the first-base line that Rizzo fielded behind the bag and turned into an impressive force out.

With Bellinger barreling toward first base, Rizzo acted quickly and laid out to procure the out. Rizzo made an all-out effort with a dive toward the bag, and, as a result, he was able to tag the base with his mitt just before Bellinger reached it. The impressive feat, which nearly resulted in Rizzo taking a face full of dirt, marked one of the best defensive highlights of the young season for the Cubs.
