Cubs Corner with Bob Fiorante: Cubs offseason talk, White Sox, MLB predictions, more

by - Staff Writer -

On this edition of the Cubs Corner, Anthony welcomed AL Expert Robert Fiorante to the show to discuss the offseason, spring training beginning, the Hall of Fame, and make predictions for the 2021 season.

This episode is presented by Coach’s Bar and Grill, located at 6169 N Northwest Highway on the Northwest Side of Chicago. The food and ownership are both great so make sure you get to Coach’s!

This episode of the Cubs Corner spanned multiple topics, and what took up most of the show was talk between Anthony and Bob about the offseason for their perspective teams. For Anthony, he recapped the Cubs’ offseason that began with mostly departures (Theo Epstein, Len Kasper, Kyle Schwarber, Yu Darvish, Victor Caratini, and more) but then finished up with additions (Jake Arietta, Jon Pederson, and more) and how the Cubs stack up in what appears to be a fairly weak NL Central.

For Bob, the talk was about how the White Sox were able to add (Adam Eaton, Lance Lynn, Liam Hendriks, and more) to bolster their roster and enter the season favorites not only in the AL Central but in the entire American League.

In the spirit of the Hall of Fame announcing over the offseason that no players will be inducted this year, Anthony and Bob offered their takes on the situation. While many believe Curt Schilling, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and others deserved to be inducted — the duo agreed with the committee in that no players should have been elected to the Hall of Fame, more so for integrity issues than those of baseball relations.

The pair also made predictions for division winners as well as winners of ALCS, NLCS and World Series, tune in to the Cubs Corner to find out the picks!
