Alec Mills was announced by Major League Baseball as the National League Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Mills threw the 16th no-hitter in team history on Sunday against the Brewers and earlier in the week threw six scoreless innings against the Reds at Wrigley Field. Overall, last week he registered two wins including the no-hitter, 11 strikeouts, and 0.67 WHIP in 15 innnings. He joins Kyle Hendricks as the second Cubs pitcher to win this award this season. Former Cubs prospect Jeimer Candelario was named American League Player of the Week.
