Selected by the Cubs in the 18th round of the 2012 draft out of Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kansas, Bote agreed to a five-year extension, April 3, 2019, through 2024 with club options for 2025 and 2026. He has spent the majority of the past four seasons in the majors, batting .233 (176-for-756) with 29 homers and 126 RBI in 295 games with the Cubs.
