CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today activated infielder David Bote from the 10-day injured list and optioned right-handed pitcher Trevor Megill to Triple-A Iowa.

Bote, 28, was placed on the 10-day injured list, May 30, with a dislocated left shoulder. He appeared in five injury rehabilitation games with Iowa, most recently going 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and a walk, July 23 at Columbus.

Selected by the Cubs in the 18th round of the 2012 draft out of Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kansas, Bote agreed to a five-year extension, April 3, 2019, through 2024 with club options for 2025 and 2026. He has spent the majority of the past four seasons in the majors, batting .233 (176-for-756) with 29 homers and 126 RBI in 295 games with the Cubs.
