It appears that ESPN's Buster Olney enjoys writing and discussing the baseball future of Kris Bryant.
This offseason, Olney wrote some articles stating that the Cubs were open to trading their standout third baseman. The Cubs management told reporters that it was possible that anyone could be traded on the team, but it was more of a click-bait type situation with Olney than actual reality.
Well, this week Olney is back at it talking about Kris Bryant's future during his most recent Baseball Tonight Podcast.
"It would not surprise me at all to see Kris Bryant end up with the Phillies," Olney said. "He's friends with Bryce Harper. He's represented by Scott Boras. You can see a long-term hole at 3B in Philly."
Bryant told the media recently that he would love to stay in Chicago for the duration of his career.
"Anytime you can show loyalty to the team that drafted you, and you came up with and established relationships with those people, any human being would want to do that," he said. “It’s no secret that everyone in this clubhouse loves playing in Chicago. We love everything about this organization.
"Everyone in this clubhouse would want to finish his career with this team, myself included."
There is a chance that KB and Harper will be sharing Philly Cheesesteaks together, but a lot can happen before Bryant is ready to test free agency after the 2021 season. The way baseball stars are signing extensions lately, he could join that group and sign a mega-extension in the next year or so.
Bryant struggled batting .272 with 13 homers in 102 games last season.
